Well first we would need a measuring stick, some objective form of establishing if our goals had been achieved. Next we would need to consider our lives currently and complete again an objective analysis of where we are at to measure any future change against. Finally, we would need to gaze into the future and establish the fixed point (goal) we are seeking to achieve. Then, at some planned future date, we can measure the change, compare where we have arrived from whence we departed and voila….we can establish whether we have met, exceeded or failed to reach our goal. Success would generally be defined as achieving or exceeding the said goal. We would need to steele our nerve to avoid rationalizing the results, adjusting or excusing poor performance and then either celebrating the results and the implicit reward of setting a plan, making the sacrifices to achieve the goal and then….arriving where we intended at the time we intended and in the manner we anticipated.
Okay, so none of this will happen, life is not nearly this linear nor do we often care about our plans much after we ink them and that is assuming we actually write them down. But here I am, New Years is less than 6 hours away, the family is playing games and eating and having much fun! So what….
Here are the plans for 2010:
Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your might.
Lean not on your own understanding, in ALL your ways acknowledge God and He will direct your path.
Expect Great things from God!
Be a great leader, in your family, in your community, in your business.
Give away as much as you can, as fast you can.
Be accountable, exhibit discipline, love extraordinarily!
cheer for the leafs and the bills
follow your instincts, take risks, ignore lawyers, build bridges, have fun!
Trust me…2010 is gonna be another great, tough year….thankful for another cut at the ball!
Sola Deo Gloria
